ReptiSun 5.0 is specifically designed for tropical and subtropical terrarium animals that naturally live in densely vegetated environments and receive moderate UV radiation through filtered sunlight. This UVB terrarium lamp provides balanced UVB and UVA output to support vitamin D₃ synthesis, proper calcium metabolism, and natural activity, appetite, and behavior.
It is suitable as a UVB lamp for chameleons, iguanas, day geckos, chinese water dragons, and other diurnal forest species. It is an energy-efficient compact UV lamp with an integrated ballast for easy installation – simply screw it into a standard socket. For optimal performance, UVB light should not be filtered through glass, and the basking area should be positioned approximately 30 cm (12 inches) below the bulb.
Replacement is recommended once per year with average use of around 8 hours per day, as UVB output from fluorescent lamps gradually decreases over time.
